[PORTED] LG G4 Apps now available for LG G3!

The newly release LG's flagship, the G4, hasn't even shown up to the public and boom, already got a few apps ported for its older brother, G3. The camera, gallery, contacts, launcher, calendar, voice recorder, alarm clock and some more are all available for installing on your G3!

Since the system dumb has been pushed, the LastStandingDroid@XDA decided to port a few apps for the older generation, the G3.
In the result he ported a fine amount of apps, including the well-known and brand new camera, known especially for its manual mode, that is partially working on the G3, and shooting pictures in RAW format.

apps

Here's a screenshot (credit goes to LastStandingDroid) of the new Launcher (which hasn't changed much) and the new Music app.

But the biggest tease would probably be the new camera, as it's driven a lot of attention lately.
This is a quick video showing the G4 camera running on G3. Alrough I got it working on my G3, I've experienced some FCs and there are definitely some problems.

But for those who can't wait, go ahead! Your device has to be rooted. The apps are made for Lollipop versions.

Firstly, download the ZIP. Extract it on your PC (or directly on your Android device), you should get an APK file along with a "lib" folder.

Navigate to /system/priv-app (or something like, don't quite remember the exact name), open the LGCamera folder (again, something like that :p) and backup the files there (you can backup the camera easily by changing the type from .APK to .BAK

Now simply put the new camera APK to the folder and change the permissions to rw-r-r.
Next, the folder part. Do the same thing with the folder, delete all the files except libDNVBeautyFace_JNI.so, keep this one. Then move all the files from the new folder and finally change the permissions of the folder, if needed (to rwxr-xr-x).

You should get the similar look to this (just with another Camera icon, since this is the old version).

Done? Reboot! Have fun.

Though this is quite a problematic app, there are some that work seamlessly.
  • LgMusic
  • LGIMe
  • LGFileManager
  • LGHome
  • LGMusicWidget
These should be working just fine and you shouldn't have or find any bugs.

MIUI Express - A Complete MIUI Launcher For Your Android Device

MIUI, as the vast majority of you already know, is a freeware ROM available on the miui.us site and it's also one of the most popular ROMs ever created. The good thing is, we have a full port of the complete MIUI launcher with working apps, wallpapers, market and just everything!

If you ever wanted to try the MIUI out but you were afraid of flashing and all of the stuff, so you just gave it up. Well, now's the best time for you to try it finally out!

The whole thing is called MIUI Express and it works like all other launchers do. So you don't basically have to be rooted in order to run any of the features of this app.
Although it's just a launcher, it's pretty much accurate to the original MIUI ROM - the wallpapers, icons, widgets, even some apps are re-designed to the original ROM-design.

If you want to customize your MIUI Launcher, you can - using Themes: as in the original MIUI, you can install any theme you like including wallpapers, icons, lockscreens or full setups (like the iPhone setup, for instance).

The whole thing can be downloaded for free on the official site: Download

Be sure to have Android 4 and higher, 1GB or RAM at least, and 80MB of free storage.

[APK] Samsung Galaxy S5 Launcher Ported!

The new Samsung flagship called Galaxy S5 may hasn't even reached the market yet, but we already know how to root it and we also have the launcher ported! It may not be the same but comes with nice animations, original S5 icons and is really fast!

If you like the design of the Samsung TouchWiz, you may actually enjoy this launcher. It's highly customizable, really fast, and considering we don't even have the S5 it's pretty accurate with icons and stuff. It also comes with Android KitKat features such like transparent navigation bars and more.

As you can see on the pictures above, it's really slick and nice-looking due to the transparent bars, along with the icons and wallpapers. It also offers you a smooth animation (which can be customized), that gives the launcher the spirit of the TouchWiz.

I expect it to be updated after the S5 comes out, so be tuned! App is available for free on Google Play:

Lucid Launcher - A Slightly Different, Yet Beatiful and Handy Android Launcher

There are too many beautiful launchers out there but the problem is, they aren't really smart in any way. You have to click many, many times just to open your browser. And that's bad. Well, if you are looking for a beautiful but also smart and handy launcher, you might enjoy the Lucid Launcher - as I call it, A slightly different but still the same.

I am the type of a person that needs things to be beautiful and gorgeous but also insist to be useful. This is kinda problem because there are a bunch of beautiful launchers such like Themer but the problem is, I don't find this launcher useful....at all. On the other side, I like and currently use the Google Now Launcher - I appreciate the option to access the Google Now by just one swype of your finger. This makes things faster than any other launcher.

But then I tried the Lucid Launcher. It's fast, beatiful but also useful, handy and smart. It's also slightly different from the rest of launchers out there. But I'm sure, you will enjoy this change:

Lucid Launcher - screenshot thumbnailLucid Launcher - screenshot thumbnailLucid Launcher - screenshot thumbnailLucid Launcher - screenshot thumbnail

As you can see, browsing on the homescreen is different. Instead of horizontal swype, you swype your finger vertically to browse your widgets. To access apps, swype your finger to the right. If you want to quickly access your browser, swype to the letf, and you're there!

Lucid Launcher also offers a smart search function and sidebar which lets you to open your favourite apps quickly. As you can also see, launcher looks very beautiful and has the translucent (transparent) navigation bars for KitKat, which makes this launcher even more beautiful.

App comes in a free and paid version. If you want to support the developer and unlock some awesome stuff like page animations, sidebar themes, custom search text, transparency options and much more, I suggest you to buy the full version.

Nokia X - Root, Google Play Store, G-Apps and Google Launcher

The thing that almost everybody expected to come has finally come. Yeah. The Nokia X as an Android phone has been finally rooted modded to run custom Launcher, apps from Google (GApps) or even original Google Play Store.

While we have the Nokia X phone rooted, we can basically sideload any APK file, thus run it. Let's watch some screens of modded Nokia X running the original Google Now Launcher available on Google Play Store:

To do this, you need to root your Nokia X phone. This can be done using the Gandalf Exploit included in well-known rooting app called Framaroot (More info + download).

After that, install and download a root explorer, and finally install GApps. Download a special package by KashaMalaga@XDA (Thanks to him, we can do all of this stuff), extract and copy all the APK files included in the ZIP to /system/app directory and change the permissions to rw-r-r--.

After rebooting, download this package and install every single APK in the usual way.

After that, you should be able to run Google Play Store.
For more info, visit the original XDA thread.

Customize your Google Now Launcher with Xposed GEL Settings

Lots of people are currently using the Google Now Launcher (previously known as Google Experience), which is some kind of Google launcher running in stock on Google Nexus 5. Unfortunately, this launcher cannot be edited or customized in any way (instead of Nova Launcher), so as you might expect, there's a mod (xposed module, more precisely) that enables customization for Google Now Launcher (GEL)!

First of all, this mod is a xposed module, which requires the Xposed Framework installed (not hard to install), which requires a rooted device. To install & download the Xposed Framework, check HERE.

As you have the Xposed Framework installed, download the GEL settings mod, activate it and reboot your device to take the effect.

What does this mod do?

  • hide Google search bar / automatically show search bar on Google Now
  • hide apps from the app drawer
  • resize the home screen grid
  • change the number of hotseat apps (icons above the navigation bar)
  • hide icon labels on home screen and/or on app drawer
  • apply settings without rebooting your device
  • more to come

Please check the original XDA thread for more info, features request, FAQ and more.
